Plaitr vs Wise Business.

Wise Business is the default answer for cheap, transparent currency conversion, and it earned that position. If your question is only “what is the cheapest way to move GBP into EUR,” this comparison will probably end with you using Wise.

The decision gets more interesting when the money has to land in India, when you also need stablecoin settlement alongside bank rails, or when you want the payment and its bookkeeping entry to be the same event rather than two systems you reconcile later. That is the actual boundary between these two products.

Everything below about Wise comes from Wise's own pricing page and help centre, read in September 2026, with the URL next to each claim. Fees change; check them before you decide.

Side by side

Wise figures are from the US Wise Business pricing page and Wise help centre articles linked in Sources, read in September 2026. Wise publishes different pricing per region, so your numbers may differ. Plaitr figures are what Plaitr publishes today.

When Wise Business is the better choice

  • You want the cheapest, most predictable bank-to-bank FX and nothing else. Wise publishes a per-currency rate card and states it does not inflate the mid-market rate. [1] That is hard to beat on simplicity.
  • You are an Indian exporter who wants inward receipts handled end to end under an RBI licence. Wise Payments India Private Limited holds an RBI Payment Aggregator (Cross-Border Inwards) licence and issues an e-FIRC within three working days. [4][5] If your bank or auditor wants that document on a predictable schedule, that matters.
  • You need receiving details in many currencies for a services business billing clients abroad, and 22 currencies covers your client base. [2]
  • Your business touches cryptocurrency and you specifically want a provider that stays out of it. Wise lists crypto businesses among activities it does not support, [3] which is a deliberate and legitimate position.
  • You want a consumer-grade product with no onboarding conversation. Registration is free and self-serve. [1]

When Plaitr fits better

  • You need bank rails and stablecoin rails in one account. Plaitr runs USDC and USDT alongside fiat: receive a stablecoin payment, hold a working balance, or off-ramp to a local fiat account without a second provider and a second reconciliation.
  • Your counterparties pay on weekends or in USD-scarce corridors, where a SWIFT wire waits for a business day.
  • You want the payment and the bookkeeping entry to be the same event. Plaitr reconciles every transaction as it settles and exports to Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite and CSV.
  • You want free ACH and free wires in and out, plus mid-market FX, rather than a per-transfer percentage.
  • You want one account that covers 90+ countries and 40+ currencies with US, European, Singapore and India local rails in the same place.

What changes if you move

  • Your receiving details change. Wise gives you account details in its own supported currencies; if clients pay those details today, they need new instructions and a new remittance reference before you close anything.
  • Keep both rails running during the switch. Run one billing cycle through Plaitr while Wise still receives, and compare what actually landed before you move the rest.
  • If you are an Indian business, the documentation path is the thing to plan. Wise auto-converts inward receipts to INR and issues an e-FIRC within three working days. [4] Whatever you switch to, confirm with your CA and your AD bank how each receipt gets evidenced for FEMA and EDPMS purposes before you redirect client payments.
  • Stablecoin receipts add tax and reporting questions that a bank receipt does not. Settle the treatment with your accountant first rather than after the first payment lands.
  • Export your Wise statements before you stop using the account. Historic statements are easier to pull while the account is still open.

Frequently asked

Is Plaitr cheaper than Wise Business?

It depends on the transfer. Plaitr publishes free ACH, free wires and mid-market FX with no hidden spread. Wise charges from 0.23% to send or convert and does not inflate the mid-market rate. On a large conversion the percentage matters most, so compare both on your own volumes.

Does Wise support stablecoin payouts?

No. Nothing on the Wise Business pricing page or the help centre article on business eligibility offers stablecoin or crypto payouts, and Wise lists businesses involved in cryptocurrency among activities it does not support. Plaitr runs USDC and USDT rails in the same account as fiat balances.

Can an Indian business use Wise Business?

Wise onboards Indian businesses to receive money, with local and international receiving details covering 24 currencies and a 2.5M INR per-transaction cap. Wise states those Indian receiving details cannot be used to send money or hold balances for regulatory reasons, so it is a receiving product in that market.

Which is better for receiving client payments from the US?

If clients pay by bank transfer and you want inward remittance paperwork handled under Wise's RBI cross-border inwards licence, Wise is a strong fit. If some clients want to pay in USDC or settle outside banking hours, Plaitr handles both rails without you running two providers.

Is Plaitr a bank?

No. Plaitr is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services, custody and card issuing are delivered by licensed partner institutions, and Plaitr does not hold customer funds or private keys. Availability of accounts, rails and currencies varies by country and entity type.
